"Ready or Not? Transitions of Depressed Adolescents During Acute Phase of Treatment" was published in the May 2019 Child Psychiatry & Human Development journal. Co-authored by Cara C. Lewis, this paper examines the relationship of readiness to change and hopelessness to treatment success for depressed adolescents. Adolescents who started treatment with high levels of hopelessness and at the action stages were more likely to progress to precontemplation. Carefully assessing this construct early in treatment and directly addressing it may optimize treatment effects.
